The Contemporary Resort is one of the two original Walt Disney World hotels. It is located between Bay Lake which is great for water sports and the Seven Seas Lagoon close to Magic Kingdom with great views of Cinderella's Castle and Disney's Magic Kingdom Park. The resorts modern look is amazing with its massive A-frame tower and two wings called Garden wings; the whole resort has a cosmopolitan feel and original design. The resorts lobby One of the best features of the resort is the monorail which travels straight through the mezzanine.  At the Contemporary Resort guests are surrounded by modern art, a ninety foot high mural completed by Mary Blair on the resorts opening is still the main focal point of the resort which looks great as you cruise silently on the sleek monorail. One feature of the resort loved by the resort is the breathtaking view of Cinderella Castle from the top the hotel in the award-winning California Grill restaurant. Other great views are the Magic Kingdom wishes fireworks and the amazing Electrical Water Pageant one of the best things to see in the evening with lights and a musical procession on Seven Seas.  There are 972 guest rooms at the Contemporary Resort with either 2 queen sized beds and a day bed or a single King-sized bed. Amenities include balconies, patios and in-room safe in the tower rooms. There are 25 suites, with either park or lake views. Each suite has one or two bedrooms, with two queen-size beds and sleep-sofas. There are 11 concierge suites. The Contemporary Resort has a wealth of activities and amenities, play volleyball on the beach, take part in some fishing, parasailing and waterskiing. The resorts marina provides - Sailboats, catamarans, canopy boats, Seariders and Water Sprites with professional instructors on hand. The Olympiad Health Club is a spa and salon located on the third floor of the resorts tower offering massage therapy, skin care and body treatments, saunas, steam rooms and features the latest in fitness equipment. Disney's Racquet Club located near the north wing of the resort features six state of the art tennis courts.  There are three pools at the resort, a toddlers wading pool, a larger round pool and the new pool featuring a 17 foot high curving slide, water jets, fountains, and a couple of whirlpools, you can also swim in a small area of the Bay Lake. The Resort also includes a high-tech games room that features classic arcade games and the latest in video game entertainment. For meetings, conventions and banquets the resort features over 115,000 square feet ready to be divided, decorated and equipped to accommodate your needs. Featuring four separate ballrooms, 35 breakout rooms, Internet access, meeting planner offices and over 32,000 square feet of pre-function space, everything you could possibly need for that special function.  The Contemporary Resort features great restaurants for your enjoyment. California Grill This restaurant is located on the 15th floor with its specialty being pizzas from a wood-burning oven, grilled meats, seafood and vegetables. The greatest thing about this restaurant is watching the firework display of the Magic Kingdom. Chef Mickey's is one of the favourites with character greetings in the morning and with the monorail passing overhead through the center of the Resort, kids will love packing away the peanut butter & jelly pizza and Mickey waffles with Cinderella by their side, you'll love this place. Concourse Steakhouse offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. They have burgers, salads, seafood and pasta for dinner. Food and Fun Center Open 24 hours a day serving light foods and snacks.  Disney's Contemporary Resort features four great stores for your shopping pleasure. Bayview Gifts offers unique Disney branded souvenirs, chocolates, collectibles, jewellery, framed art and men's and women's clothing. Fantasia has some fantastic Disney branded clothing and merchandise. Concourse Sundries & Spirits provides those much needed newspapers, magazines, snacks, spirits, and health and beauty items. Caricature Connection is a kiosk located on the fourth floor of the resorts Tower where artists will create delightful, souvenir caricatures. |
